April 30, 2018
In March of 2018, I was asked to travel to Wichita, KS to work on an extremely special and very limited car... the 2017 Ford GT. This wasn't just a "pick some options they offer" Ford GT, but actually a custom spec'd one, including the one off paint color. I was asked to help by Wichita local detailer, Andrew Holder of Holder's Detailing. The plan was to remove the factory defects (surprisingly there was quite a few), apply Suntek Paint Protection Film to the entire vehicle and finish it off with a Ceramic Coating. I would be assisting in everything except the Ceramic Coating. Our crew had the vehicle completely polished and defect free by early afternoon on day one and immediately started prepping the car for PPF. Up to this time, only four Ford GT's had been completely PPF'd, so information was slim on how to attack this difficult car. We spent a total of 4 days laying PPF on every exterior panel, the Carbon Fiber along the lower half, even the Carbon Fiber inside the car. I had to head back to Arkansas Friday afternoon, so we pulled it outside so I could snap some pictures for my portfolio. After I left, Andrew applied the Ceramic Coating and delivered the vehicle to an extremely happy client. This experience/vehicle will definitely be one of my most memorable details to date. Enjoy the photos.
